Did you make New Years resolutions this year?
How are they going?
Are you on fire with motivation and accomplishing everything that you set out to do?
Or have your goals/resolutions fallen to the wayside?
I hope that you are part of the former, but if you do find yourself in the latter, it’s not too late! And for those that planned on creating resolutions, but just didn’t get around to it, don’t wait until next year! You have 11 more months to make this your best year ever.
We set goals and resolutions because we believe that there is something that we feel we need to change or improve upon. It is very healthy to set goals and it can have a tremendous effect on your future. Most successful people haven’t always been successful and people in great physical shape haven’t always been healthy. At some point they looked at themselves and where they were in life and decided that they wanted better, made plans to become better and followed through on the plans. We should follow the same model.

Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant. -Robert Louis Stevenson
For the past couple of weeks I found myself in a “funk,” or a loss of motivation, with my productivity. After months of cultivating business ideas, researching and meeting with potential business partners, I found myself frustrated because my patience for visible results was running low. Since I work a full time job, it is very difficult to consistently put in an hour or more of work in building my business each day. An hour can pass so quickly and feel like very little was accomplished. Often times, after a long day at work, the only thing on my mind is relaxing. I battled with myself saying, “if I only had more time or if only I didn’t have to work my 9-5 I would be so much further.”

After a weekend packed with family activities, my body was exhausted with a fever and chronic coughing. Not knowing how many sick days I had left at work, I rolled out of bed and went to the office. Though I eventually went home sick, I thought of how dissatisfied I was with feeling like I HAVE to go to work. Who should decide how many sick days I’m allowed to have? I started to get really irritated with work and then I ventured to think deeper. The pain that I was feeling being bonded to a job was an opportunity for motivation to work harder on my business. Pain, discomfort, dissatisfaction and frustration can make one unhappy and unfulfilled, however, they can be the very thing that can generate a sense of urgency for success.
What pain are you feeling today that you can use to the benefit for your success?

Motivation is a very interesting thing. It can come so easily from a good movie or an inspirational quote and can leave just as easily from a bad day or a negative comment. Motivation can enable confidence for success, but lack can disable. One things for certain, motivation doesn’t last forever. Continue reading

How am I going to live today in order to create the tomorrow I’m committed to?
- Anthony Robbins
Waking up this morning I felt sluggish and unmotivated to get out of bed and go to work. Do you ever have that feeling? The feeling of weekends, holidays and vacations just aren’t long enough? As I grow older I find myself feeling this way more and more. I’m not going to pretend that I am always excited to go to work each morning. Though I try to stay positive and maintain an attitude of gratitude, there are moments when I just can’t “fake the funk.”
Nobody ever said success was easy, at least from my studies. Continue reading
