Success
Success. Quite an empowering notion, but what does it truly mean to be successful? Some define it as fame and fortune. Others may define success as reaching the pinnacle, whether it be in their profession, athletics or academics. We all have our own definitions; but what’s important is to recognize that everyone’s definitions are different, because in order to achieve success for yourself, you must know what success means to you.
We see it in our everyday lives. Stars on television, an interview of a billionaire in a magazine, thriving companies in the newspaper, and even locals on the street driving luxury vehicles. The next time you walk into a bookstore, find the section dedicated to the subject of success. You’re sure to find rows and rows of shelves lined with books solely dedicated to it. So if “success” is such a thriving industry, why isn’t everyone successful? The reason is because most people have not taken the time to define what success means to them.
Success for me means having freedom of time–time with my loving wife, time to raise my children as they grow into adults, time with my parents, siblings and nieces and nephews. It means not having to worry about money. To have wealth, not out of greed and worldly possessions, but for a better life for the generations after me and to contribute to the advancement of God’s kingdom. I want to be successful to have the resources and flexibility to experience this beautiful world.
How do you define success?
