Whether in the household or in the workplace, leaders are tasked with making important decisions and are looked to for guidance. A good leader leads with the utmost integrity, honesty, respect, courage, confidence, responsibility and wisdom.
“A leader leads by example, whether he intends to or not.” -unknown
Whether you wear the title of a leadership position or not, you can still lead. Follow these steps to lead:
1) Contribute to solving problems. Know the problem and eliminate the noise (unimportant information). Leverage skills, abilities, knowledge and experience of yourself and your team to arrive at a solution. Continue reading

Did you make New Years resolutions this year?
How are they going?
Are you on fire with motivation and accomplishing everything that you set out to do?
Or have your goals/resolutions fallen to the wayside?
I hope that you are part of the former, but if you do find yourself in the latter, it’s not too late! And for those that planned on creating resolutions, but just didn’t get around to it, don’t wait until next year! You have 11 more months to make this your best year ever.
We set goals and resolutions because we believe that there is something that we feel we need to change or improve upon. It is very healthy to set goals and it can have a tremendous effect on your future. Most successful people haven’t always been successful and people in great physical shape haven’t always been healthy. At some point they looked at themselves and where they were in life and decided that they wanted better, made plans to become better and followed through on the plans. We should follow the same model.

For many years I have made a habit of setting goals. What I’ve learned in those years is that I am a great goal-setter and a not so great goal-finisher. I would start off super motivated ready to take on the world and, shortly after, I would forget and lose sight of what I set out to do. I have matured over the years and gotten better at accomplishing my goals. One of the biggest reasons why I am more effective today is because I help others achieve theirs. Zig Ziglar once said, “You can have everything you want in life if you are willing to help others get what they want.”[ad#horizlinkunit]

Since the launch of my site, I have received a lot of great feedback. The comment that I want to share with you is from my friend that inspired my first post The Basics. Enjoy.
Faith and Action … best answer I have ever heard. I agree wholeheartedly. Without Faith, why do anything? If there is no action, why have Faith?
If I don’t have enough Faith to Act on my Faith, then what is the purpose of my Faith? Make me feel good? haha
Faith is the most expensive luxury in this world, because the cost of Faith is an entire life, which is an entire existence, because if I or You didn’t exist, existence would end, or at least our perspective of it would. Continue reading

How am I going to live today in order to create the tomorrow I’m committed to?
- Anthony Robbins
Waking up this morning I felt sluggish and unmotivated to get out of bed and go to work. Do you ever have that feeling? The feeling of weekends, holidays and vacations just aren’t long enough? As I grow older I find myself feeling this way more and more. I’m not going to pretend that I am always excited to go to work each morning. Though I try to stay positive and maintain an attitude of gratitude, there are moments when I just can’t “fake the funk.”
Nobody ever said success was easy, at least from my studies. Continue reading

Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?
Luke 16:10-11
I consider myself a good and honest person. I go to church, pray every day and try to help others in need. In my May 5th post titled, Inte(rnet)grity, I shared the challenge of web browsing during work. I have found that one of the reasons why I allow myself to get distracted at work is because… Continue reading

Check out this insightful video of self help author Brian Tracy on personal development and attracting success.
“All successful people men and women are big dreamers. They imagine what their future could be, ideal in every respect, and then they work every day toward their distant vision, that goal or purpose.” -Brian Tracy

A ceramics teacher announced on opening day that he was dividing the class into two groups. All those on the left side of the studio, he said, would be graded solely on the quantity of work they produced, all those on the right solely on its quality. His procedure was simple: on the final day of class he would bring in his bathroom scale and weigh the work of the “quantity” group: fifty pounds of pots rated an “A,” forty pounds a “B,” and so on. Those being graded on “quality,” however, needed to produce
only one pot-albeit a perfect one-to get an “A.” Well, come grading time Continue reading

“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.”
- Michael Jordan
In September 2009, Michael Jordan will be inducted in the Basketball Hall of Fame. Though he was cut from the high school varsity team for being too short, Jordan didn’t give up and trained to be the best. Today, the NBA calls him the greatest basketball player of all time. One of the most endorsed athletes in the world, Michael Jordan’s name remains synonymous with the sport even after years of retirement. In 1991, a Gatorade commercial was aired with kids singing “Like Mike.” We should all strive to be “like Mike.” Here are some words of wisdom from Air Jordan himself: Continue reading

I have been pondering for a long time what I should write in my first blog post. As I was brainstorming my first post in Barnes and Noble, I noticed a familiar face. It was someone I went to middle school and high school with. We engaged in a deep and interesting conversation on faith, success, life; just a bunch of random stuff. I knew he was a very smart guy, but I just found myself blown away by his views, theories and philosophies. I showed him brosephj.com to get his feedback and he asked me a very interesting question that I never thought of: “What is the most important thing you need to know to become successful?” Continue reading
