Quote of the Day - REACH!

“…the tragedy in life does not lie in not reaching your goal. The tragedy lies in having no goal to reach. It isn’t a calamity to die with dreams unfulfilled, but it is a calamity not to dream. It is not a disaster to be unable to capture your ideal, but it is a disaster to have no ideal to capture. It is not a disgrace not to reach the stars, but it is a disgrace to have no stars to reach for.” - Benjamin E. Mays

Encouragement for “The Case of the Mondays” ;)

The Dash by Linda Ellis

I read of a man who stood to speak
at the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
from the beginning…to the end.

He noted that the first came the date of her birth
and spoke of the following date with tears,
but he said what mattered most of all
was the dash between those years.

For that dash represents all the time

How To Be A Leader

Whether in the household or in the workplace, leaders are tasked with making important decisions and are looked to for guidance. A good leader leads with the utmost integrity, honesty, respect, courage, confidence, responsibility and wisdom.

“A leader leads by example, whether he intends to or not.” -unknown

Whether you wear the title of a leadership position or not, you can still lead. Follow these steps to lead:

1) Contribute to solving problems. Know the problem and eliminate the noise (unimportant information). Leverage skills, abilities, knowledge and experience of yourself and your team to arrive at a solution. Continue reading

Goals: The Man in the Mirror

Did you make New Years resolutions this year?

How are they going?

Are you on fire with motivation and accomplishing everything that you set out to do?

Or have your goals/resolutions fallen to the wayside?

I hope that you are part of the former, but if you do find yourself in the latter, it’s not too late! And for those that planned on creating resolutions, but just didn’t get around to it, don’t wait until next year! You have 11 more months to make this your best year ever.

We set goals and resolutions because we believe that there is something that we feel we need to change or improve upon. It is very healthy to set goals and it can have a tremendous effect on your future. Most successful people haven’t always been successful and people in great physical shape haven’t always been healthy. At some point they looked at themselves and where they were in life and decided that they wanted better, made plans to become better and followed through on the plans. We should follow the same model.

Proverbs 15 - What do you seek?

In my study of Proverbs, it is apparent that the scriptures reveal very useful and practical knowledge for our lives. Those that don’t know The Bible often say that it’s out dated and doesn’t apply to our lives today. It is true that this book about people was written thousands of years ago, but if one analyzes the problems that people battle with today, the Bible remains applicable. We can look at the world around us and see all the technological breakthroughs that man has seen. This very computer that I’m typing these words on is so complex and is a testament to how we have advanced. A lot has changed since The Bible was written, yet human behavior has not. Which is why Proverbs is such an important part of The Bible that clearly tells us how we should live.

Proverbs 15:14 says: The discerning heart seeks knowledge, but the mouth of a fool feeds on folly. Continue reading

Proverbs 2 - Priceless Treasure

Knowledge and wisdom are great virtues to posses, but, if we don’t understand the true value, we may miss the whole point. The Bible says we are to seek wisdom like a treasure. Since good decisions create good results, inversely, bad decision create bad results. I know that where I am today is the result of the decisions that I have made over the years. One single decision can be detrimental, but wisdom enables us to make better decisions for our lives.  Continue reading

Proverbs 1: Knowing Is Half the Battle

It’s good to have knowledge, but applying knowledge is true wisdom. In order to grow in faith, build a strong relationship and achieve success, we must have a desire to learn. Not just learn by our intellect, but the discipline to follow through on what we learn. In Proverbs 1 I learned that God wants to pour out his wisdom and knowledge, but He can only do so when we are ready and willing.

To grow in faith and know God’s will and purpose for ourselves requires discipline to study His word, pray and apply His teachings. To build a strong marriage requires active listening and a willingness to learn from our spouse. To build a business we must be willing to fail and learn from our mistakes. In each of these examples there is an action followed by a conscious effort to learn from that action. Continue reading

Proverbs: 31 Days of Wisdom

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline. -Proverbs 1:7

It has been a while since my last post and before the last post it was even longer. I have been struggling with posting on a regular basis because of the time required to do so. Since I only want to publish content that will be useful to my readers, I don’t end up doing it because I don’t want to rush through writing just for the sake of writing. I am still striving for success and have a desire to share my struggles and victories for you to learn from. The biggest challenge I am dealing with now is balance. It is very difficult to balance growing my marriage, my business and my faith because spending too much time on one thing takes away from the others. In my mind I constantly ask myself, am I spending enough time on [fill in the blank]?

Back to Business: The Power of Focus

Have you ever gone to work with a list of tasks to do and at the end of the day realize that nothing on your list got completed? You may have touched on some of your tasks, but you wouldn’t consider it complete. Being busy can often cause us to lose sight of our goal(s). Focus your efforts on what is important now. Faith: Believing Is Seeing

In my last post I wrote about being in a funk with my productivity. Since then I have regrouped and gained a new sense of motivation. Its funny how we all fall into our moments of low motivation. If you have followed my posts, I do my best to convey my passion and encourage through experiences. I intended this website to be a resource to help people break through their limits. As I was in the my moment of lack, I received a comment from a friend that appreciated the site and was motivated to start setting goals. I was moved by her message because it felt good to have a positive impact that could potentially make a huge difference in another person’s life. After reading that comment I navigated through the site and started to read old posts. My spirit began to reawaken and remind me of my purpose. And then I realized prior to receiving the comment, even though I was feeling down, I mustered up enough faith to pray for strength to overcome the internal struggle I was going through. I guess I didn’t expect God to direct me to the exact words I needed in my own blog to get back on my feet.
